Here in Lynchburg, we love barbecue. And we bet you do, too. Fortunately, Lynchburg has plenty of establishments where you can get your favorite smoked meats, and maybe even a specialty beverage! Here are five restaurants that serve some of the best barbecue in the Lynchburg area.
Small Batch BBQ
Small Batch is located on Bedford Avenue in Lynchburg. They offer a wide variety of barbeque, sides and specialty drinks, with deals for large groups. They also do catering and offer different packages, depending on need. Small Batch BBQ is open 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday-Friday, 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Sunday.
Blue Ridge BBQ & Catering
Located on Timberlake Road near Waterlick Plaza, Blue Ridge BBQ is a family-owned restaurant which is also fairly new to the Lynchburg area. Their menu includes an affordable variety of sandwiches, platters, bulk options and smoked hot dogs. They have a full-service catering menu, as well. Blue Ridge BBQ is open Tuesday-Saturday 11 a.m.-8 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m.-3 p.m.
Located off Boonsboro Road in Lynchburg, Pok-E-Joe’s serves specialty hickory-smoked meats and much more. They offer various sizes and styles of barbecue meals, along with burgers, hot dogs and chicken. They have daily and weekly specials to try, and a large catering menu, too. Their hours are Monday-Thursday 11 a.m.-8 p.m., Friday 11 a.m.-9 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m.-9 p.m. (during which time they also offer breakfast options).
Fifth and Federal
Located, as the name implies, at the intersection of Fifth and Federal Streets, Fifth and Federal is primarily a whiskey bar. But they also offer a wide selection of barbecue and other favorite Southern foods, including a catering service. Housed in a renovated Esso gas station, Fifth and Federal also hosts live music and special events. They are open Monday 4 p.m.-11 p.m., Wednesday-Thursday 11 a.m.-11 p.m., Friday-Saturday 11 a.m.-12 a.m. and Sunday 11 a.m.-9 p.m., and they have specials Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday.
Silver Pig Barbecue is located in Madison Heights on S. Amherst Hwy. Along with their traditional chopped North Carolina-style barbecue plates, they also serve specialty Brunswick Stew and Peach Cobbler. They offer catering services, as well, and are open 10:30 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday-Friday and 10:30 a.m.-7 p.m. on Saturdays.
