Uber and Virginia Wine Month Promotion

Do you love drinking Virginia’s world-class wines but hate worrying about finding a designated driver? If so, we have some great news for your October weekends! Virginia is for Lovers has teamed up with Uber in a partnership to celebrate wine month in Virginia with safe rides to and from participating wineries around the Commonwealth. During every weekend in October and on Columbus Day, take an Uber to one of the following wineries and show your e-receipt on your smartphone for 50% off tastings, 15% off bottles of their wines, and 15% off any merchandise purchased at the wineries.

Charlottesville’s Participating Locations:

KING FAMILY VINEYARDS

King Family Vineyards is a family owned and operated vineyard and winery in Crozet, about 20 minutes outside of Charlottesville at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Not far from scenic fall destinations like the Blue Ridge Parkway, Skyline Drive, and Wintergreen Resort, the winery is part of the famous Monticello Wine Trail. The covered veranda, expansive lawn, and brick patio all offer perfect spots for a fall picnic if the weather permits, or the tasting room has a cozy stone fireplace for cooler days. Pair a selection of gourmet cheeses, meats, spreads, and French bread with your award-winning wine samples at King Family Vineyards. The winery hosts polo matches on Sundays from May to October, with the last one happening this Sunday, October 9 at 1pm.  Leashed pets are welcome on the grounds of the winery with responsible owners.

VERITAS VINEYARD & WINERY

Another stop on the Monticello Wine Trail, Veritas Vineyard & Winery is a popular spot for wine enthusiasts visiting Charlottesville and the surrounding areas. The first thing you’ll notice upon entering the tasting room is the distinct feeling that this isn’t a business, but rather an elegant country home. Overstuffed leather sofas surround the huge stone fireplace, and on cool days when the fireplace is ablaze, you’ll find yourself lingering in this cozy spot for hours. The winery has a deep love and appreciation of Virginia, and even features a LOVEwork made of wine corks in the tasting room. When the weather allows, walk out onto the back deck to take in the panoramic sight of the surrounding countryside, bordered by the deep hues of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Well-behaved leashed pets are welcome on the patio and the grounds of the winery, although pets are not permitted inside the tasting room.

Richmond’s Participating Locations:

BUSKEY CIDER

Using Virginia apples, they produce a variety of refreshing draft ciders, with basic options like a semi-sweet RVA cider, as well as infusing the ciders with flavors like watermelon, rosemary, peach, lime, and jalapeno. Try something new and enjoy half off a flight when you take an Uber to Buskey Cider this October.

JAMES RIVER CELLARS WINERY

James River Cellars frequently hosts seasonal events on the grounds.

On cooler days, enjoy your wine tasting by the fireplace, or tour the grounds if the weather allows for sweeping views of the vine-covered countryside. Well-behaved leashed pets are welcome on the grounds, patio, and the tasting room at 8 Chains North Winery. They also have a dedicated dog park where friendly dogs are allowed to roam off-leash.

As an individual who works for the number 1 tour company in Virginia that is also in the top 10 for the nation on Trip Advisor who sees what happens when people get an Uber to the wineries, I find this post demeaning to all the actual legitimate companies offering tours. It has become more and more difficult for the amazing companies that offer safe, reliable, trustworthy, and… Read more »
