George Washington’s boyhood home is Ferry Farm in Fredericksburg, and families are invited to visit and learn about life in the 18th century.
Perhaps you’ve heard of a young George Washington throwing a stone across the mighty Rappahannock River? Ferry Farm is where that *might have* occurred. Visit Montpelier during President’s Day weekend for special tours that highlight the story of some of the first African Americans who lived in Montpelier. There is also an educational self-guided tour offered at the 1910 Trail Depot, titled “In the Time of Segregation”.

Celebrate Presidents Day and George Washington’s birthday with free admission to Mount Vernon (and maybe a little birthday cake!). Activities throughout President’s Day day include military performances, patriotic music, special wreath-laying and an early birthday surprise for Washington.
