    Have you hiked Roaring Run Trail in Eagle Rock, #VA? An excellent family #hike, the trail passes rock walls, cascading water, five foot bridges and even a natural water slide before ending at Roaring Run Falls. At the head of the trail is Roaring Run Furnace, ruins of a 19th century furnace operation. Activities include an interpretative kayak trip, swimming, hiking miles of nature trails, and special evening children’s programs. For more aqua fun, Deltaville offers a Chesapeake Bay fishing trip and the Deltaville Maritime Museum.

    The exploration of historic halls begins at Stratford Hall, built in the late 1700s, and the birthplace of Robert E. Lee. There are five nature trails on the plantation and nearby is the George Washington Birthplace National Monument. The Colonial Living Farm raises livestock and demonstrations in the spinning shop.

     Here’s a family-fun location with cute cottages, nifty dockside dining, and of course, a beach! Discover Colonial Beach on the Potomac River. It’s just across the river from DC, but worlds away in relaxing family time!

    Nearby are wildlife viewing opportunities and watersports fun galore. Check out Westmoreland State Park and Caledon Natural Area. Both locations are known for Bald Eagles, Kingfishers and Osprey, so be sure to bring your camera. Hiking and biking trails keep the kids moving and you’re sure to make some awesome memories.
