Do you recognize one of the oldest tourist destinations in the US? This beauty has been included on several "Seven Natural Wonders of the World" lists, was surveyed by George Washington in 1750 and was once owned by Thomas Jefferson as a personal retreat. While you're visiting don't forget to swing by the legendary Foamhenge, explore the Natural Bridge Caverns and get your photo taken with a baby tiger at the Natural Bridge Zoo. Summer Beach Homes: Virginia Beach

by Casey | Posted on March 1st, 2012

Last week we highlighted Eastern Shore summer beach homes to whet your appetite for the summer ahead and give you a nudge to book before it’s too late. Today, we’re highlighting the Hampton Roads region, namely, Virginia Beach!

Virginia Beach has 38 miles of shoreline. You might be most familiar with the resort area, which accounts for 28 miles and boasts a paved 28-foot-wide 3-mile boardwalk with separate bike lane. But for today, let’s take a look at how you can experience the rest of the coast from a beach house.

    Atlantic Paradise

    Atlantic Paradise

Atlantic Paradise sits on Croatan Beach at Rudee Inlet on S. Atlantic Avenue – just south of the resort area. With an in-ground pool, private oceanfront access, plenty of parking, and space for 18 to sleep (4,100 square feet), this might just be the family getaway home you’ve been searching for. No pets and no smoking. Available June 9-22 and July 7-20.
    Weekly Rate: $8,300

Pearl by the Sea (via Beach Pros) is a gem for a really large family vacationing together. Easily sleeping 25, it’s secluded in Sandbridge south of the resort area and does allow pets. While not oceanfront, it’s just across the street and offers an ocean view, in-ground pool, foosball table, pinball machine, and 50″ TV. Available June 16-23, July 21-28, and August 25-September 14.
    Weekly Rate: $ 6,995 -$7,250

    Anticipation

    Anticipation

It really doesn’t matter if it rains during your vacation if you’re staying at Crow’s Nest (via Sandbridge Blue), also located at Croatan Beach at Rudee Inlet. This amazing space has an indoor in-ground pool and hot tub. What else do you need to know?! Ten bedrooms and ten baths offer comfortable accommodations for 26. Expect to also find a pool table and expansive rooftop deck with fantastic views of the resort area and ocean. This three-story home includes an elevator, so it will accommodate every member of your family. Available June 2-9, July 7-14, July 28-August 4, and August 18 into shoulder season.
    Weekly Rate: $6,675-$9,475

Anticipation (via Sandbridge Realty) is a modest home for the true beach lover. Compared to the high-occupancy homes mentioned above, this is a smaller home for a single family to enjoy an oceanfront vacation experience. Anticipation is nestled on the shore of Sandbridge Beach and sleeps 6. It’s available June 2-9, June 16-30, July 14-21, and July 28-August 18.
    Weekly Rate: $2,295-$3,295
