Do you recognize one of the oldest tourist destinations in the US? This beauty has been included on several "Seven Natural Wonders of the World" lists, was surveyed by George Washington in 1750 and was once owned by Thomas Jefferson as a personal retreat. While you're visiting don't forget to swing by the legendary Foamhenge, explore the Natural Bridge Caverns and get your photo taken with a baby tiger at the Natural Bridge Zoo. Don’t you see “romance” written all over a cooking class? We do!

What can be more romantic than preparing a delightful dinner together? Partner up at one of these cooking classes to learn something new. Together!

    • Cooking ClassLaughing Duck Gardens & Cookery is located in Washington, VA. Sign up to prepare a seasonal meal with another couple! Upcoming dates: September 4, October 4, November 13, and December 4. $75/person
    • Cooper’s Landing Inn & Traveler’s Tavern is perfectly situated along the lake in Clarksville. Make a weekend out of this class when you stay two nights. Included is a five-course chef’s tasting dinner and wine pairing, cheese reception, breakfast, four hours of classes, elegant lunch, afternoon tea, two of your very own Cooper’s Landing aprons, and a binder of recipes. Package offered October 23-25 for $700, or book a class only on August 22 for $65/person.
    • Mise en Place in Richmond is a team building cooking school. You’re a team, right? There just so happens to be “Couples Who Cook” classes offered monthly. Upcoming: August 18 and September 9. The cost is $120/couple.
    • Cookology at Dulles Town Center in Sterling offers trendy food and wine cooking. At 90 minutes per session and $45/person, it’s a good date night option.

Once you’ve mastered a few tricks of the trade in the kitchen, head out to your nearby farmers’ market to grab a stash of fresh produce. You’ll be amazed at much better everything tastes when it’s fresh-plucked.
