Have you hiked Roaring Run Trail in Eagle Rock, #VA? An excellent family #hike, the trail passes rock walls, cascading water, five foot bridges and even a natural water slide before ending at Roaring Run Falls. At the head of the trail is Roaring Run Furnace, ruins of a 19th century furnace operation. Roaring Run #Creek is also known for trout fishing. #VAOutdoors #waterfall #loveva #repost #roaringrun #virginia #perspective #photooftheday Kudos to @spezzaroo for the beautiful photo!

Is 2011 Your Year for Wedding Bells?

by Casey | Posted on February 1st, 2011

If this is your year to say “I Do,” let us give you a hand with some of the wedding day prep!

A Garden Wedding in VirginiaFirst, it couldn’t be easier to obtain the license. Go to a Virginia Circuit Court with your lovie, proofs of ID and $30. No blood test, no waiting period, no hassle. You must be 18 or have notarized consent from the ‘rents, but other than that, you can slip in, pay the dues, and roll out.

Second, where are we having this shindig? Most any of Virginia’s vineyards offer a stunning backdrop and even have party space just for days like yours. If you’re into history, perhaps a historic church or even a plantation would be at your disposal. Dedicated to your alma mater? Virginia’s colleges and universities book fast for weddings. Plan this one out and get that date nailed down!

Consider one of Virginia’s State Parks. This would be an ideal year to secure a natural setting for your vows as this is the 75th anniversary year of VSP.

Lush gardens provide the flowers all around you, saving you some of the expense. Explore historic and botanical garden options to find the perfect setting – gazebos, arbors, water features … whatever your heart desires!

Shadow Mountain EscapeThird, you should probably say “thank you” to your wedding attendants with a small token. Why not give them a gift that says it all? You know what I’m talking about. Virginia is for Lovers gear! From just a few bucks per person on up, you can share the LOVE without breaking the bank.

And now to the good stuff. Where do you want to spend uninterrupted time after the wedding? Honeymoons are glorious! Do you want a cabin, a resort, a top-notch fancy hotel, or a sweet B&B? Whatever it is, you’ll find the perfect one in Virginia.

Need a few more options, we have a page for that. See Getting Married in Virginia.
