Do you recognize one of the oldest tourist destinations in the US? This beauty has been included on several "Seven Natural Wonders of the World" lists, was surveyed by George Washington in 1750 and was once owned by Thomas Jefferson as a personal retreat. by Casey | Posted on December 20th, 2010

New Year’s Eve isn’t just for champagne toasts and wild, crazy parties. Families can join in on the festivites with First Night and other family-oriented events across Virginia.

First Night in VirginiaBeginning early in the day on December 31, the Virginia Aquarium in Virginia Beach welcomes kids to their Noon Year’s Eve Celebration with Radio Disney. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. families are invited to play games and enjoy sparkling non-alcoholic beverages in addition to their Aquarium visit.

First Night events are those that wrap art and culture together in an event that is alcohol-free. The First Night events across Virginia include storytelling, magicians, comedians, live music, games, dance, and fireworks. On the list of those to consider attending are Alexandria, Charlottesville, Leesburg, WarrentonWilliamsburg, and Winchester.
